Neosporin Ointment is used to treat minor bacterial skin infections and to help prevent infection in minor cuts, wounds, burns, and scrapes. It contains three antibiotics, bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin B, which stop bacteria growing at the site of injury, helping the skin heal cleanly and reducing the risk of further infection. It is also used for minor skin abrasions and superficial infections after minor surgery.
Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin as advised by your doctor, and keep it away from the eyes, nose, and mouth. Do not use it on deep puncture wounds, animal bites, or serious or extensive burns. Consult your doctor before use, and tell them if you get any redness, itching, rash, or allergic reaction at the site.
