Neosporin Ointment is used to prevent and treat minor bacterial skin infections in small cuts, scrapes, burns, and wounds. It stops the growth of bacteria, protects the injured area, and supports faster healing while reducing the risk of infection.

• Clean your skin thoroughly before applying the ointment.
• Apply a small amount of ointment to the affected area.
• Gently massage the ointment into your skin until it is completely absorbed.
• Do not cover the treated area with a dressing unless directed by your doctor.
• Before using Neosporin Antibiotic Ointment, perform a patch test to check for skin sensitivities or allergic reactions.

Neosporin Antibiotic Ointment contains the following components:

• Polymyxin B (5000 Units): Polymyxin B is an antibiotic that belongs to the class of polymyxins. It works by damaging the outer membrane of bacteria, leading to the leakage of cell contents and ultimately causing the death of the bacteria. It is effective against certain gram-negative bacteria.
• Bacitracin (400 Units): Bacitracin is a polypeptide antibiotic that inhibits the growth of susceptible bacteria. It interferes with the making of bacterial cell walls which is essential for the bacteria's survival. It is primarily active against gram-positive bacteria.
• Neomycin (3400 Units): Neomycin is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside class. It disrupts the bacteria's ability to make proteins, which are crucial for their growth and reproduction. It is effective against a wide range of gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria.

• Store this medicine at a temperature below 30 ºC.
• Do not freeze.
• Keep Neosporin Antibiotic Ointment away from children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

• While you have an open wound, avoiding hot tubs and swimming pools is best, as they can introduce harmful bacteria.
