Neosporin Ointment is a medicine used to treat minor bacterial skin infections and to help prevent infection in minor cuts, wounds, burns, and scrapes. It is also used for minor skin abrasions and superficial infections after minor surgery.
It contains three antibiotics, bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin B, which stop bacteria from growing at the site of injury, helping the skin heal and reducing the risk of further infection.
Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin as advised by your doctor, and keep it away from the eyes, nose, and mouth. Do not use it on deep puncture wounds, animal bites, or serious or extensive burns.
Before using this medicine, consult your doctor, and tell them if you get any redness, itching, rash, or allergic reaction at the site.
