Neo-Mercazole 20 Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing hyperthyroidism: This condition occurs when the thyroid gland produces an excess of thyroid hormones causing symptoms such as rapid heartbeat and weight loss.

• Preparing for thyroid surgery: This medicine can be used before a thyroidectomy, which is a surgical procedure to remove all or part of the thyroid gland.

• Prior to radioactive iodine treatment: It helps prepare patients by reducing the levels of thyroid hormones in the body.

Here is how you should take Neo-Mercazole 20 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid breaking, crushing, or chewing the tablet.

• Do not stop taking this medicine without first consulting your doctor.

Neo-Mercazole 20 Tablet is taken orally.

Neo-Mercazole 20 Tablet contains Carbimazole (20 mg). It works on the body as follows:

• Conversion to Methimazole: Carbimazole is a prodrug, it converts to its active form, methimazole, in your body.

• Inhibition of Thyroid Peroxidase: Methimazole inhibits an enzyme in your body called thyroid peroxidase. This enzyme plays a significant role in creating thyroid hormones.
