This medication contains Medroxyprogesterone, a synthetic form of the natural hormone progesterone. It works by signaling the uterus to stop growing its lining and eventually to shed it, which brings on a "withdrawal bleed" (period). This helps regulate the timing and flow of the menstrual cycle.
