Microcef-CV 100 Tablet is useful in managing a range of bacterial infections:

• Pharyngitis and tonsillitis triggered by Streptococcus pyogenes

• Acute otitis media, an infection of the middle ear, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis

• Acute maxillary sinusitis due to Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis

• Community-acquired pneumonia brought on by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae

• Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes

• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections stemming from Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Proteus mirabilis

Microcef-CV 100 Tablet should be taken as follows:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet.

Microcef-CV 100 Tablet is taken orally.

Microcef-CV 100 Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Cefpodoxime Proxetil (100 mg): This component works as a bactericidal antibiotic which means it destroys bacteria by inhibiting their cell wall synthesis. This is accomplished by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) that are essential for bacteria's cell wall strength and structure.

• Clavulanic Acid (62.5 mg): Clavulanic acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Beta-lactamases are enzymes produced by bacteria that provide them with resistance against antibiotics like cefpodoxime. Clavulanic acid binds irreversibly to these enzymes, preventing them from inactivating such antibiotics which increases the effectiveness of cefpodoxime against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria.
