Meslacare 1.2 Tablet 10

MESLACARE 1.2 TABLET 10 is used for the following:

• Treatment of mild to moderate ulcerative colitis

• Inducing remission in ulcerative colitis

• Maintaining remission in ulcerative colitis

• Managing symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease

• Reducing inflammation in the colon

• Relief from rectal bleeding due to ulcerative colitis

• Controlling diarrhoea associated with ulcerative colitis

• Easing abdominal pain in ulcerative colitis

• Management of Crohn's disease in some cases

Follow these instructions while taking MESLACARE 1.2 TABLET 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.

• Take this medicine with food for the best results.

• Continue taking this medicine regularly for the full course prescribed.

• If you have any questions about using this medicine, consult your doctor.

MESLACARE 1.2 TABLET 10 is taken orally.

MESLACARE 1.2 TABLET 10 contains mesalazine (1.2 g), which works on the body as follows:

• Local anti-inflammatory action: Mesalazine works directly in the colon where it reduces inflammation of the intestinal lining, providing relief from ulcerative colitis symptoms.

• Prostaglandin inhibition: It blocks the production of prostaglandins, which are substances that promote inflammation in the body, by suppressing an enzyme called cyclooxygenase.

• Leukotriene reduction: The medicine decreases the formation of leukotrienes, which are inflammatory compounds that contribute to the symptoms of ulcerative colitis.

• Targeted release: The tablet is specially designed to release the active ingredient specifically in the colon, where it's most needed, maximising its effectiveness at the site of inflammation.

• Store MESLACARE 1.2 TABLET 10 at room temperature (below 30°C).

• Keep the medicine protected from moisture and direct sunlight.

• Store in the original packaging to maintain effectiveness.

• Keep all medicines out of reach of children.

• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the package.

• Hydration: Drink plenty of water throughout the day as staying well-hydrated helps reduce inflammation in the colon and may decrease ulcerative colitis symptoms.

• Low-fibre diet during flares: Consider reducing high-fibre foods like raw vegetables, nuts, and seeds during active symptoms to give your irritated colon a chance to heal.
