Lukotas HD Tablet SR is used to relieve allergic rhinitis and allergy-related cough with thick mucus, easing sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, watery eyes and chest congestion. It is a combination medicine containing levocetirizine (an antihistamine), montelukast (a leukotriene receptor antagonist) and ambroxol (a mucolytic) in a sustained-release form.
This medicine helps control allergic symptoms and loosens thick mucus so it is easier to cough up. Swallow the tablet whole with water, without crushing or chewing, once a day at the same time, as prescribed by your doctor. It does not relieve a sudden asthma attack, so keep using your reliever inhaler if you have asthma.
Drinking plenty of fluids helps thin mucus, and steam inhalation may ease chest congestion. Avoiding dust, smoke and pollen can reduce flare-ups.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, epilepsy, a stomach ulcer, or a history of depression or other mental health problems, and about other medicines you take. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It may cause drowsiness, so avoid driving and alcohol if affected. Contact your doctor straight away if you notice mood or behaviour changes, or if your cough lasts more than a week or comes with a high fever, breathlessness or wheezing. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
