Irnocam 40 Injection 2ml is used for the following:

• Treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer

• Management of advanced colon cancer

• Management of advanced rectal cancer

• Part of combination chemotherapy regimens

• Monotherapy in patients who have progressed after or cannot tolerate combination chemotherapy

• Management of cancer that has spread to other organs

• Treatment of colorectal cancer after previous therapy

• Management of certain types of gastrointestinal tumours

• Therapy for patients with specific genetic profiles

• This medicine is exclusively administered by healthcare professionals in clinical settings.

• The medicine requires proper preparation and dilution before administration.

• It is typically administered as an infusion over a specific time period.

Irnocam 40 Injection 2ml is administered intravenously.

Irnocam 40 Injection 2ml contains irinotecan (40 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Metabolic conversion: Irinotecan is converted in your body to SN-38, its active form, which is more potent than the original compound.

• Topoisomerase I inhibition: Irinotecan binds to an enzyme called topoisomerase I, which is essential for DNA replication and transcription in cells.

• DNA strand breakage: By binding to the topoisomerase I-DNA complex, the medicine prevents the re-joining of DNA strands, causing DNA strand breaks that may lead to cell death if not adequately repaired..

• Selective cancer cell targeting: Cancer cells typically have higher levels of topoisomerase I than normal tissues, making them more vulnerable to this medicine.

• Apoptosis induction: The DNA damage accumulates particularly in rapidly dividing cells, triggering cell death pathways specifically in cancer cells.
