Influvac Tetra 2022/2023 Injection is used to prevent influenza (flu) in individuals of all ages, particularly those at higher risk of developing severe complications. It helps reduce the frequency and severity of flu illness and protects against four strains of the influenza virus.
It is a quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine that contains antigens from four strains of the influenza virus, two influenza A and two influenza B types. It stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies that recognise and fight the influenza virus if exposed later in the season.
This injection is given by a healthcare professional, usually into the upper arm muscle (deltoid). A single dose given before the cold season is sufficient protection for the year. The strains covered are updated annually to match those expected to circulate.
Mild soreness, redness, or swelling at the injection site is common and resolves within a day or two. Headache, fatigue, and mild muscle aches may also occur. Inform your doctor if you have a known allergy to eggs or any vaccine component before receiving this injection.
