Flutibact Ointment is used to treat inflamed skin conditions, such as eczema and dermatitis, that are infected with bacteria. It is a combination medicine containing mupirocin, an antibiotic, and fluticasone propionate, a corticosteroid (steroid).
This medicine is also used for impetigo with inflammation and infected insect bites. It helps clear the bacterial infection while reducing redness, swelling and itching. Apply a thin layer only to the affected skin as directed by your doctor, and use it only for the short time prescribed.
Wash your hands before and after applying the ointment, keep the area clean and dry, and avoid scratching. Do not share towels, to help stop the infection spreading.
This ointment is for use on the skin only. Before using it, tell your doctor if you have a viral or fungal skin infection, acne, rosacea, deep wounds, or an allergy to steroids or antibiotics, and about other skin products you use. Do not use it on the face, over large areas or under airtight dressings unless your doctor advises, and use it with care in children. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
