EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 is used to manage type 2 diabetes in adults.

It belongs to a group of medicines called SGLT2 inhibitors, which help the kidneys remove excess sugar from the body through the urine. It may also help reduce the risk of certain heart and kidney complications in eligible adults.

Take it as prescribed by your doctor, alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise. Drinking enough fluids supports safe use.

Tell your doctor about any existing conditions or other medicines you take before starting. Report symptoms of urinary or genital infections to your doctor.

EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 is used to control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes and may also be used to reduce the risk of heart and kidney complications in eligible adults.

Primary Uses of EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 are:

Type 2 Diabetes: Lowers blood sugar when diet and exercise alone are not enough.
Heart Failure: May help reduce the risk of hospital admission due to heart failure.
Chronic Kidney Disease: Helps protect kidney function and may help slow the progression of kidney disease.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.
Take the medicine at the same time every day.
Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.

EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 is taken orally.

EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10:

Urinary and Genital: Genital yeast infections (thrush) and passing more urine than usual.
Other: Increased thirst, rash or itching, constipation, and raised cholesterol on blood tests.

Management Of Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary, generally mild, and resolve upon suspending the use of EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10. However, if you experience serious side effects or worsening symptoms, consult your doctor.

Genital infections: Maintain good hygiene; antifungal treatment may be recommended by your doctor.
Increased urination and thirst: Drink adequate fluids to stay hydrated.
Constipation: Eat fibre-rich foods and drink more water.

EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 contains empagliflozin (25 mg):

Empagliflozin blocks the SGLT2 protein in the kidneys, preventing glucose reabsorption into the bloodstream. This leads to increased glucose elimination through urine, thereby lowering blood sugar levels. Additionally, it helps reduce cardiovascular risks, supports kidney function, and improves outcomes in patients with heart failure.

Pregnancy

EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 is not recommended if you are pregnant. It may harm the unborn child. Consult your doctor for alternative treatment options.

Breastfeeding

Use EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 with caution while breastfeeding. It is not known whether empagliflozin passes into breast milk.

Alcohol

Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) and dehydration. Avoid excessive intake while on EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10.

Liver

Patients with severe liver impairment should use EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 cautiously, as dose adjustments or alternative medicines may be required.

Kidney

Kidney function should be assessed before and during treatment. In severe kidney disease, your doctor may recommend a lower dose or discontinuation.

Use In Driving And Operating Machinery

EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 may cause dizziness, especially if taken with insulin or sulphonylureas that lower blood sugar. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if you feel unwell.

Allergy

Do not take EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 if you are allergic to empagliflozin or any other ingredient in the formulation. Report symptoms such as rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing immediately.

Children

EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 can be used in children aged 10 years and above with type 2 diabetes. It is not recommended for younger children.

Older Patients

Elderly patients, particularly those aged over 75 years, may have a higher risk of dehydration. Regular monitoring is advised.

EMPAGLIGEN 25 TABLET 10 interacts with the following medicines:

Daily Dose

Over Dose
