Dutasaf 0.5 MG Tablet 10 is used to treat the urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH) in men. It eases symptoms such as a weak stream, difficulty starting to urinate, dribbling and the feeling of not emptying the bladder, and over time it shrinks the prostate, which may reduce the need for surgery.
It contains dutasteride, a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that lowers the hormone (DHT) that makes the prostate grow. Take it daily, with or without food; it may take several months to see the full benefit.
Going to the toilet before long journeys, limiting fluids in the evening, and cutting down on caffeine and alcohol can help with urinary symptoms alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any liver problems before starting, and about other medicines you take. This medicine can affect PSA blood tests, and the capsules should not be handled by women who are or may become pregnant. Report changes in sexual function or breast tenderness or lumps.
