Colozo Capsule is used to manage constipation that has lasted for a long time.

Uses of Colozo Capsule are:

• Chronic idiopathic constipation: This medicine helps manage long-lasting constipation in adults when no clear underlying cause is identified, helping make bowel movements easier and more regular.

Take Colozo Capsule as follows:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.

• Take this medicine on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before a meal.

• Avoid crushing or chewing the capsule.

• Take the capsule at approximately the same time each day.

• Consult your doctor for specific advice on how to use this medicine.

Colozo Capsule is taken orally.

Colozo Capsule contains linaclotide (72 mcg), which works on the body as follows:

• Activates GC-C receptors: Linaclotide binds to guanylate cyclase-C receptors on the surface of intestinal cells, triggering a series of chemical reactions inside these cells.

• Increases cyclic GMP levels: This activation raises levels of a substance called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which acts as a chemical messenger inside and outside intestinal cells.

• Stimulates fluid secretion: The increased cGMP activates a channel called CFTR, which allows chloride and bicarbonate (types of salts) to move into the intestinal space. Water follows these salts, increasing intestinal fluid.

• Accelerates bowel transit: The additional fluid helps soften stools and speeds up their movement through the digestive system, making bowel movements easier.

• Reduces abdominal discomfort: The cGMP outside cells may decrease the activity of pain-sensing nerve fibres, potentially reducing abdominal discomfort associated with constipation.

• Store Colozo Capsule below 25°C in a cool, dry place.

• Keep the bottle tightly closed to protect the medicine from moisture.

• Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.

• Once opened, use the capsules within 18 weeks.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the bottle.

• Increase fibre intake: Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes to help soften stools and support regular bowel movements, which works alongside the medicine's effects.

• Drink plenty of water: Drink adequate fluids to help maintain hydration, particularly if you develop diarrhoea, unless your doctor has advised you to restrict fluid intake.
