Carvidon Od 80 Capsule 10

Carvidon-OD 80 Capsule 10 is used for preventing and managing angina pectoris. It helps reduce chest pain by optimising the heart’s energy use and improving oxygen efficiency. This medicine supports better exercise tolerance, reduces the frequency of angina episodes, and is useful for patients who cannot tolerate first-line angina treatments.

Follow these instructions while taking Carvidon-OD 80 Tablet:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.
• Take this medicine at the same time each day.
• You can take this medicine with or without food.
• Do not crush, chew, or break open the capsule.
• Complete the full course as prescribed by your doctor.
• Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.

Carvidon-OD 80 Tablet is taken orally.

Carvidon-OD 80 Tablet contains trimetazidine (80 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Metabolic optimisation: Trimetazidine acts as a metabolic agent in cardiac cells, improving energy production when oxygen supply is limited.
• Enzyme inhibition: It partially inhibits an enzyme called long-chain 3-ketoacyl CoA thiolase, which is involved in fatty acid metabolism in the heart.
• Energy pathway shift: By inhibiting fatty acid oxidation, trimetazidine shifts the heart's energy production towards glucose oxidation, which requires less oxygen to produce the same amount of energy.
• Oxygen efficiency: This metabolic shift improves the heart's efficiency, decreasing myocardial oxygen demand and helping the heart function better even when the oxygen supply is reduced.
• Ischaemia protection: Optimising energy production, it enhances the heart's tolerance to ischaemia (reduced blood flow) without significantly affecting heart rate or blood pressure.

• Store Carvidon-OD 80 Tablet in a tightly closed container at room temperature, not exceeding 30°C.
• Keep away from moisture, direct light, and heat sources.
• Store in the original packaging until ready to use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the package.

• Heart-healthy diet: Follow a low-fat, low-sodium diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to support cardiovascular health and reduce the risk of angina attacks.
• Regular, moderate exercise: Engage in gentle physical activities like walking or swimming (as advised by your doctor) to improve heart function and circulation, which may help reduce the frequency of angina symptoms.
