Bactoclav Dry Syrup is used in children to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues. It is a combination antibiotic medicine containing amoxicillin (a penicillin antibiotic) and clavulanic acid (a beta-lactamase inhibitor).
It is also used for dental, bone and joint infections. Give it to your child using the measuring cup provided, usually with food, in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor based on your child's age and weight. Shake the bottle well before each dose and complete the full course even if your child feels better early.
Offer plenty of fluids, and light, simple meals if your child has loose motions.
Before giving this medicine, tell your doctor if your child has a known allergy to penicillin, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products your child takes. Report persistent loose motions (diarrhoea) or a rash during treatment. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
