B Zone 1gm Injection 1 is an antibiotic injection used to treat bacterial infections such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections and bone infections. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing ceftriaxone, and belongs to a class of medicines called cephalosporin antibiotics.
This medicine works by stopping bacteria from building their cell walls, which kills them and clears the infection. It is also used for skin and soft tissue infections, gonorrhoea, intra-abdominal infections, bone and joint infections, meningitis and septicaemia (blood infection), and is given before certain surgeries to prevent infection afterwards. It is given by a doctor or healthcare professional, and the dose and duration are set by your doctor.
Drinking enough fluids and getting plenty of rest help your body recover while the antibiotic does its work. Complete the full course even if you feel better, as stopping early can allow the infection to return.
Before receiving this medicine, tell your doctor if you are allergic to penicillins or cephalosporins, or have kidney or liver problems, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It treats bacterial infections only, not viral infections such as colds and flu, and unnecessary use can lead to antibiotic resistance. Tell your doctor promptly about a severe rash, swelling of the face or severe, persistent diarrhoea.
