Aricef O 200 Tablet 10

• Aricef O 200 Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections like urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea, targeting bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
• Acute bronchitis and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae
• Uncomplicated gonorrhoea (cervical/urethral), a sexually transmitted disease caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush or chew the tablet.
• The medicine can be taken with or without food according to your preference.

Aricef O 200 Tablet consists of cefixime (200 mg), which works as follows:

• Bacterial Cell Wall Inhibition: Cefixime acts as a bactericidal antibiotic, meaning it kills bacteria directly. It does this by binding to specific proteins (penicillin-binding proteins) inside the bacterial cell wall, which are crucial for building the cell wall structure.
• Peptidoglycan Chain Interference: The binding of cefixime to these proteins disrupts the formation of peptidoglycan chains. These chains give strength and rigidity to bacterial cell walls.
• Bacterial Cell Lysis: With the peptidoglycan chains disrupted, the bacterial cell wall weakens. This weakening leads to cell lysis, essentially causing the bacterial cell to burst and die.
• Beta-lactamase Stability: Many bacteria produce enzymes called beta-lactamases that can break down certain antibiotics and make them ineffective. However, cefixime is stable in the presence of many beta-lactamase enzymes, ensuring its effectiveness against these bacteria.

• Store Aricef O 200 Tablet at room temperature, ideally between 20-25°C.
• Shield the medication from light and moisture to maintain its effectiveness.
