Apixabid 2.5 Mg Tablet 10 is an anticoagulant medicine (blood thinner) used to treat and prevent blood clots in the veins and heart. It helps lower the risk of stroke in people with an irregular heart rhythm (non-valvular atrial fibrillation) and prevents blood clots in the legs and lungs. It is also used to prevent clots following hip or knee replacement surgery.
It contains apixaban, a factor Xa inhibitor that reduces the blood's ability to form harmful clots. Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor, with or without food. Do not skip doses or stop taking it suddenly without medical advice, as doing so significantly increases the risk of blood clots or stroke.
Care should be taken to prevent injuries and cuts while taking blood thinners. Use a soft toothbrush, take care when handling sharp objects, and carry a medical alert card stating that you are taking an anticoagulant medicine.
Before starting treatment, tell your doctor if you have any bleeding disorders, liver or kidney disease, stomach ulcers, or recent surgical procedures. Inform your doctor or dentist before undergoing any medical or dental procedures, as the medicine may need to be temporarily paused. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Report any unusual or prolonged bleeding immediately.
