Amlodipine works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow to the heart, helping to prevent and relieve angina while reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke over time.
Take this tablet as prescribed at the same time each day, with or without food, exactly as your doctor prescribes, and continue even if you feel well, since high blood pressure often has no symptoms.
Tell your doctor if you have severe liver disease, or if you notice significant swelling of the ankles or feet, which can occur with this medicine. Avoid grapefruit juice, which can increase levels of this medicine in the blood.
