• Amoxicillin (250 mg): This ingredient works by binding to and inactivating enzymes called penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) within the bacterial cell. PBPs are involved in building and reshaping the bacterial cell wall. By disrupting PBPs' function, amoxicillin weakens the cell wall and causes the bacterium to break down due to an imbalance in fluid content.
• Cloxacillin (250 mg): Similar to amoxicillin, cloxacillin also inhibits PBPs, but it is resistant to being broken down by certain enzymes produced by bacteria known as beta-lactamases. Its special structure allows it to bind PBPs but makes it a poor target for beta-lactamases, which helps it maintain effectiveness against certain strains of staphylococci.
