• Amoxicillin + Cloxacillin is available as tablets, capsules, and suspension for oral administration, and as injection to be administered via the intramuscular or intravenous route.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medicine is intended for adults and children. The specific age appropriateness varies from newborns to the elderly depending on health conditions and individual dosage requirements.

Contraindications

• This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to any penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics and individuals who have a history of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) to these antibiotics.

Other Medications to Avoid

• This combination may interact with oral contraceptives (such as ethinylestradiol and norgestrel), anticoagulants (like warfarin), antacids (such as aluminium hydroxide), iron supplements (like ferrous sulphate), and uricosurics (such as probenecid).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Symptoms of an overdose may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and reduced kidney function. If you suspect an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you missed.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience severe side effects or worsening symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• For minor stomach upset or nausea, consider taking this medicine with food.

• For diarrhoea, maintain hydration by drinking plenty of water.

• Should a mild skin rash occur, reduce exposure to direct sunlight.

• This medication may impair your alertness. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness after taking it, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.

• Amoxicillin + Cloxacillin falls under pregnancy category B. It is generally considered safe during pregnancy but should only be used under a doctor's supervision.

• Although Amoxicillin is compatible with breastfeeding, Cloxacillin enters breast milk. If breastfeeding, monitor the infant for potential effects like diarrhoea or candidiasis and consult your doctor before use.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Caution is advised when using Amoxicillin + Cloxacillin in patients with kidney impairment and a history of gastrointestinal diseases related to antibiotic use, such as colitis.
