Almefkem D Tablet 10

ALMEFKEM D Tablet 10 is used to relieve abdominal pain, cramps and spasms caused by irritable bowel syndrome, painful periods and smooth muscle spasms of the gastrointestinal or urinary tract.

Uses of ALMEFKEM D Tablet 10 are:

• Abdominal Cramps: Relaxes muscle spasms in the stomach, intestines and urinary tract.
• Menstrual and Colic Pain: Relieves painful periods, kidney stone pain and gallbladder colic.
• Gastrointestinal Spasms: Relieves abdominal pain and spasms associated with gastrointestinal disorders.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet.

• Take the medicine with or after meals to minimise potential stomach discomfort.

• Always take the medicine in the dosage and frequency prescribed by your doctor.

• If you decide to stop taking this medicine, consult your doctor first.

ALMEFKEM D Tablet 10 works in the human body in the following ways:

• Drotaverine (80 mg): This ingredient selectively inhibits the phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) enzyme. This enzyme is responsible for the degradation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), a compound found inside cells. By inhibiting the PDE4 enzyme, drotaverine increases cAMP levels, leading to the relaxation of smooth muscles in the gut and other internal organs, helping relieve cramps, spasms, and colic.

• Mefenamic acid (250 mg): Mefenamic acid works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme, responsible for producing prostaglandins (chemical substances that cause pain, inflammation, and fever). By blocking prostaglandin synthesis, mefenamic acid provides pain relief.

• Store ALMEFKEM D Tablet 10 at room temperature below 30°C.

• Keep it away from excess heat, light, and moisture.

• Always ensure the tablet container is tightly closed.

• Remember to keep this medicine out of the reach of children.

• Use the medicine before the expiry date mentioned on the pack.

• For conditions like IBS, try including more fibre in your diet. This can help manage symptoms by making your bowel movements more regular.

• If you're dealing with painful menstruation or dysmenorrhoea, moderate exercise such as walking or yoga may help reduce pain.
