ALDROSIS 150 MG TABLET 1 is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in women after the menopause. It helps strengthen bones and reduce the risk of fractures by slowing the natural breakdown of bone. It is also used to help manage high blood calcium (hypercalcaemia) caused by certain cancers affecting the bones.
It belongs to a group of medicines called bisphosphonates, which help maintain and improve bone density. It is usually taken once a month on an empty stomach, swallowed whole with a full glass of plain water. You should stay upright and not eat or take other medicines for at least an hour afterwards, to help absorption and protect the food pipe.
Some general measures help alongside this medicine. These include eating a diet with enough calcium and vitamin D, doing weight-bearing activity as advised, quitting smoking, and limiting alcohol.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any swallowing problems, low calcium levels, kidney problems, or dental problems, and other medicines you take. Tell your doctor about difficulty or pain on swallowing, or numbness and tingling, and have any planned dental work discussed before starting.
