Acticort-10 Tablet is used for the following:

• Severe allergic reactions and allergic rhinitis

• Inflammatory joint conditions like rheumatoid arthritis

• Autoimmune diseases such as lupus

• Severe asthma attacks and breathing difficulties

• Inflammatory skin conditions, including eczema and psoriasis

• Prevention of organ rejection after transplant

• Supporting treatment in certain cancer therapies

• Managing nephrotic syndrome

• Blood disorders requiring immune system suppression

• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease flare-ups

Follow these instructions while taking Acticort-10 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet unless instructed.

• Take it at the same time each day for best results.

• Consult your doctor before stopping this medicine.

Acticort-10 Tablet is taken orally.

Acticort-10 Tablet contains prednisolone (10 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Binding to glucocorticoid receptors: Prednisolone attaches to specific receptors inside your cells, forming a complex that travels to the cell nucleus and influences gene activity to reduce inflammation.

• Suppressing inflammatory mediators: It blocks the production of substances that cause inflammation, including prostaglandins and cytokines (chemical messengers that trigger inflammation).

• Inhibiting phospholipase A2: This enzyme plays a key role in producing inflammatory substances. By blocking it, prednisolone reduces the release of arachidonic acid, which is needed for inflammation to occur.

• Modulating the immune system: It suppresses T cell function (a type of white blood cell important for immunity) and reduces the production of antibodies (proteins that help fight infections).

• Decreasing inflammatory cell migration: Prednisolone prevents inflammatory cells from moving to affected tissues, helping to reduce swelling and discomfort.

• Store Acticort-10 Tablet in a cool, dry place.

• Keep the tablets in their original packaging until ready for use.

• Protect from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Store in a location inaccessible to children.

• Check the expiry date regularly and do not use it after this date.

• Dispose of expired tablets through pharmacy take-back programmes.

• If you're taking Acticort-10 Tablet for inflammatory conditions, follow a low-sodium diet to help minimise fluid retention and reduce swelling in affected tissues.

• Regular, gentle exercise (like walking or swimming) can help maintain bone strength and counter the weight gain that may occur during prednisolone treatment.
