Acitrom 3 Tablet is used to prevent and treat dangerous blood clots in adults. It is a single-ingredient anticoagulant (a vitamin K antagonist) containing nicoumalone (acenocoumarol).
It is used for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism, in atrial fibrillation and with artificial heart valves. Take it at a fixed time in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop or change the dose without medical advice.
Keep your intake of vitamin K-rich foods, such as green leafy vegetables like palak and methi, consistent, and avoid sudden large changes to your diet.
Regular PT/INR blood tests are mandatory, and the dose is adjusted based on the results. Tell your doctor about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take, as acenocoumarol has many interactions, and tell any doctor or dentist before a procedure. Report unusual or prolonged bleeding, such as black or bloody stools, blood in the urine or heavy periods, immediately. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
