Walamycin DS Suspension is used to manage bacterial infections in children, particularly infections that have not responded to other standard antibiotics. It belongs to a group of antibiotic medicines that work by stopping the growth of bacteria, helping the infection clear effectively.
This suspension is given by mouth, usually measured with the dosing spoon or cup provided, as prescribed by your child's doctor. Give the full course as directed, even if your child starts to feel better, to help prevent the infection from returning or bacteria becoming resistant.
Give the suspension with food if it causes an upset stomach, unless your doctor advises otherwise. Keep the suspension refrigerated if instructed by the pharmacist, and shake well before each use. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids during the course of treatment.
Before starting this medicine, tell your child's doctor about any known medicine allergies, existing liver or kidney problems, or other medicines your child is taking. Contact your doctor if your child develops a skin rash, persistent diarrhoea, or shows no improvement after a few days of treatment.
