Switpride Mv2 Tablet 10 is an antidiabetic medicine used to manage type 2 diabetes in adults whose blood sugar is not controlled by a single medicine. It is a combination medicine containing glimepiride (which increases insulin release), metformin (which lowers sugar made by the liver and improves insulin response) and voglibose (which slows sugar absorption from food), and belongs to a class of medicines called antidiabetic combinations.
This medicine works by helping the pancreas release more insulin, helping the body use insulin better and slowing the digestion of carbohydrates, which lowers blood sugar levels and reduces the rise after meals. Take it with food as advised by your doctor, in the dose prescribed, and monitor your blood sugar regularly.
Eating balanced meals at regular times, exercising regularly, keeping a healthy weight and avoiding sugary drinks and excess alcohol help control diabetes alongside this medicine. Carry a sugary snack in case your blood sugar drops suddenly.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, a history of low blood sugar, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take other medicines. Glimepiride can cause low blood sugar, and metformin can rarely cause lactic acidosis, so stop and seek urgent help if you have unusual muscle pain, fast breathing or severe weakness, and tell your doctor before any scan using contrast dye.
