SUCROBIND CHEWABLE TABLET 6 is used to control high phosphorus levels in patients with chronic kidney disease who are receiving dialysis. It belongs to the class of medicines known as phosphate binders.

Support the management of chronic kidney disease-associated mineral and bone disorders as part of a comprehensive treatment plan

Follow these instructions while taking SUCROBIND CHEWABLE TABLET 6:

Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Take the medicine with meals.
Chew the tablet completely before swallowing.
Do not swallow the tablet whole.
Continue taking the medicine for the duration advised by your doctor.

SUCROBIND CHEWABLE TABLET 6 is taken orally.

SUCROBIND CHEWABLE TABLET 6 may cause side effects such as:

Diarrhoea
Discoloured (black) stools
Nausea
Constipation
Vomiting

Pregnancy

Use in children should be under the supervision of a specialist. Dosage and suitability depend on age and clinical condition.

Older Patients

No specific dosage adjustment is generally required in older patients. However, regular monitoring should continue as advised by your doctor.

Drug-Drug Interactions

SUCROBIND CHEWABLE TABLET 6 may interact with the following medicines:

Levothyroxine: Sucroferric oxyhydroxide may decrease the effectiveness of thyroid hormone replacement therapy and affect thyroid control. Your doctor may advise separating the administration times of these medicines.
Doxycycline: Sucroferric oxyhydroxide may decrease the effectiveness of antibiotic treatment. Your doctor may advise taking doxycycline at least one hour before or two hours after SUCROBIND CHEWABLE TABLET 6.
Alendronate: Sucroferric oxyhydroxide may reduce the absorption of alendronate when taken together. Your doctor may advise separating the administration times of these medicines.
Cephalexin: Taking cephalexin together with SUCROBIND CHEWABLE TABLET 6 may reduce antibiotic absorption. This may decrease the effectiveness of treatment. Your doctor may recommend administering cephalexin at least one hour before taking SUCROBIND CHEWABLE TABLET 6.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Iron accumulation disorders (e.g., haemochromatosis): This medicine contains iron. In patients with iron accumulation disorders, treatment may increase iron stores and potentially worsen the condition. Your doctor may monitor iron parameters or consider alternative treatment if necessary.

Daily Dose

Take SUCROBIND CHEWABLE TABLET 6 exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dosage may vary depending on serum phosphorus levels and individual response to treatment. Your doctor may adjust the dose periodically based on laboratory monitoring.

Over Dose

Excessive intake may increase the risk of nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, stomach discomfort, or low phosphorus levels. Seek immediate medical attention if overdose is suspected.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a dose of SUCROBIND CHEWABLE TABLET 6, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use the medicine after the expiry date mentioned on the pack.

Follow the phosphorus-restricted diet recommended by your doctor or dietitian.
Limit foods that are high in phosphorus, such as processed foods, cola beverages, and phosphate-containing food additives.
