Sevlaren-400 Tablet is used to manage high blood phosphate levels (hyperphosphataemia) in adults with chronic kidney disease who are on dialysis. It contains sevelamer, a phosphate binder.
It works in the gut to bind dietary phosphate and reduce how much is absorbed into the blood, helping to protect bone health and reduce complications associated with high phosphate levels. Take it with meals as prescribed, and swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
Following a phosphate-controlled diet as advised by your dietitian, limiting foods high in phosphate such as dairy, nuts and processed foods, and attending regular blood tests support treatment with this medicine.
Tell your doctor if you have any bowel problems, such as a history of bowel surgery or severe constipation, before starting. Report severe stomach pain, bloating, or constipation that does not improve. Take other medicines at a different time of day, as this medicine can affect their absorption.
