Seebind Powder is a medicine used to treat elevated potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalaemia). It belongs to a class of medicines called ion-exchange resins, which work by binding excess potassium in the digestive tract so it can be excreted from the body. It contains calcium polystyrene sulphonate.
It is prescribed for patients with kidney problems, including severe kidney impairment, kidney failure, or those on dialysis. Mix the powder with water or liquid as instructed by your doctor and take it as prescribed. Continue taking it for as long as recommended to keep potassium levels in a safe range.
Dietary management is essential when treating high potassium levels. Your doctor or dietitian may advise limiting high-potassium foods (such as bananas, oranges, potatoes, and spinach) and monitoring electrolyte levels through regular blood tests.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have severe bowel constipation, intestinal blockages, or heart failure, or if you are taking other medicines. Report severe constipation or abdominal pain to your doctor immediately.
