K-Bind Powder is used to treat high potassium levels in the blood, especially in patients with kidney disorders or those undergoing dialysis. It binds excess potassium in the intestines, helping maintain electrolyte balance and reducing the risk of heart-related complications.

• The powder can be swallowed with a small amount of water or mixed into a paste with a sweet substance like jam or honey.
• Do not mix it with fruit juice, as this may hinder the effectiveness of the medicine.
• While taking the medicine orally, it's essential to sit upright to prevent inhaling the powder into the lungs.
• Take K-Bind powder at least 3 hours before or after other oral medications. For individuals with stomach muscle issues (Gastroparesis), a 6-hour gap should be considered.
• If given through the rectum, try to retain the medicine for at least 9 hours.
• Thoroughly wash out the rectum after the recommended retention period.

The K-Bind powder is taken orally or rectally (via back passage).

• Calcium polystyrene sulfonate (15 gm): It acts as an ion exchange resin. It binds with excess potassium ions in the intestines, forming a compound that can be eliminated from the body through faeces.

The storage instructions for K-Bind powder are as follows:

• K-Bind powder should be stored at room temperature, at 25°C.
• Please protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep away from children.
• Use within 30 days once. Do not use this powder after the expiry date has passed.

• Opt for a low-potassium diet by avoiding high-potassium foods like bananas, oranges, tomatoes, and potatoes. Choose alternatives like apples, berries, and green beans.
• Drink plenty of water to flush excess potassium from your system. Adequate hydration helps kidneys regulate potassium levels effectively.
• Keep portions moderate, even with low-potassium foods. Eating smaller meals throughout the day helps manage potassium intake more effectively.
• Processed foods often hide potassium-rich additives. Opt for fresh, whole foods, and be cautious with potassium salt substitutes.
• Regularly check your potassium levels through blood tests as your doctor advises. This ensures timely adjustments to your diet and lifestyle to maintain a healthy balance.
