Riffoxy 550 Mg Tablet 10 is a medicine used to treat infectious diarrhoea and irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D) in adults. It is also used to treat traveller's diarrhoea and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), and to help manage hepatic encephalopathy.
It contains rifaximin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic that acts locally in the gastrointestinal tract. Take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor with or without food. Continue taking it for the full duration recommended, even if your symptoms improve sooner, to ensure the infection is completely treated.
Lifestyle measures to support digestive health while taking this medicine include drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated, consuming light and non-spicy meals, and practicing good personal hygiene to avoid re-infection.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems or if your diarrhoea is accompanied by high fever or bloody stools. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
