Retromer 400 MG Tablet 10 is a medicine used to control high phosphate levels in the blood (hyperphosphataemia) in adults with chronic kidney disease who are on dialysis. Keeping phosphate levels in a healthy range helps maintain bone strength and may lower the risk of heart and blood vessel complications.
Sevelamer-400 Tablet contains sevelamer and is usually taken with meals so it can bind phosphate from food in the gut. It is typically prescribed as part of long-term management of kidney disease. Continue taking it as prescribed even if you feel well, as high phosphate levels often have no obvious symptoms.
A phosphate-controlled diet supports this medicine. Your doctor or dietitian can advise on foods to limit, such as dairy products, processed meats, cola drinks, and certain nuts. Following the fluid intake plan and other dietary guidance for kidney disease is also important.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any bowel problems, difficulty swallowing, recent abdominal surgery, or are taking other medicines. Some medicines need to be taken at a different time from sevelamer to work properly, so check with your doctor about timing. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use.
