Renglipt M 1000 Tablet 10 is used for improving blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes, particularly when levels remain high despite using metformin alone. It works by enhancing insulin sensitivity in various tissues, reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver, and increasing glucose uptake and utilization.

Renglipt M 1000 Tablet 10 contains two main active ingredients:

• Teneligliptin (20 mg): This is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It operates by decreasing the speed at which incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) are made inactive. As these hormones remain active for a longer time, they stimulate the pancreas to secrete more insulin when glucose levels are high and reduce glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.

• Metformin (1000 mg): This ingredient falls under the category of biguanides. It works by reducing the production of glucose in your liver (a process known as gluconeogenesis) and enhancing insulin sensitivity in various tissues, such as the liver, muscle, and adipose tissues. By doing so, metformin increases glucose uptake and utilisation in peripheral tissues and reduces intestinal glucose absorption.
