CompositionPYROLATE INJECTION 10ML is used to reduce excessive salivary, pharyngeal, and airway secretions before and during surgical procedures, and to prevent the bradycardia caused by vagal reflexes during surgery. It also serves as an adjunct in peptic ulcer disease and to reverse the muscarinic side effects of cholinesterase inhibitors used to reverse neuromuscular blockade.
It contains glycopyrrolate, a quaternary anticholinergic agent that, unlike atropine, does not cross the blood-brain barrier. This means it provides peripheral anticholinergic effects without causing CNS effects such as confusion or agitation. It is administered intravenously or intramuscularly by healthcare professionals in a clinical setting.
This medicine is used entirely within the hospital or clinical setting under medical supervision with monitoring of heart rate, secretions, and bladder function as clinically appropriate.
Before administration, the healthcare team reviews for any glaucoma, enlarged prostate, severe heart disease, or other medicines. Urinary retention and dry mouth are expected effects and monitored by the clinical team.
