CompositionPulmocef-250 Tablet is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections including ear infections, maxillary sinusitis, urinary tract infections, bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, skin infections, early Lyme disease, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.
It contains cefuroxime 250mg, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by blocking bacterial cell wall synthesis. This prevents the bacteria from growing and causes them to die, clearing the infection. It is effective against a variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Take the tablet with food to improve absorption and reduce the chance of stomach upset. Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve before the course is finished, to ensure the infection is fully cleared and prevent resistance.
Stomach pain, diarrhoea, and headache are the most commonly reported effects and are usually temporary. Tell your doctor if you have a known allergy to penicillin or other cephalosporins, or a history of colitis, before starting.
