Obetohep-10 Tablet is used to manage primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) in adults whose condition has not responded well enough to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), or who cannot tolerate it. It is a single-ingredient bile acid medicine containing obeticholic acid.
It helps slow the progression of liver damage when UDCA alone is not enough. Take it with or without food in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor, and attend all follow-up appointments and liver blood tests.
Avoid alcohol, eat a balanced diet with less fried and fatty food, and keep to a healthy weight to protect your liver.
Before starting, tell your doctor about any other liver problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take, as this medicine needs caution in more advanced liver disease. Tell your doctor if itching becomes troublesome, and report severe abdominal pain, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or unusual tiredness promptly. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
