Normictal 800 MG Tablet 10 is used for the following:

• Controlling partial-onset seizures in adults

• Managing epilepsy as an add-on treatment

• Preventing secondary generalised seizures

• Reducing the frequency of epileptic episodes

• Stabilising abnormal electrical activity in the brain

• Complementing other anti-epileptic medicines

• Supporting patients with inadequately controlled seizures

• Balancing nerve cell activity in epilepsy

Follow these instructions while taking Normictal 800 MG Tablet 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush, break or chew the tablet.

• Take this medicine at approximately the same time each day.

• You can take this medicine with or without food.

• Continue taking this medicine regularly as prescribed, even if you feel well.

• Never stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.

Normictal 800 MG Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Normictal 800 MG Tablet 10 contains eslicarbazepine (800 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Sodium Channel Blockade: Eslicarbazepine works by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve cells of the brain that are overactive. This action prevents the excessive electrical impulses that trigger seizures.

• Neuronal Stabilisation: By inhibiting the rapid firing of neurons, eslicarbazepine helps stabilise the membranes of nerve cells, making them less likely to participate in the abnormal electrical activity that causes epileptic seizures.

• Seizure Threshold Elevation: This medicine effectively raises the threshold at which seizures can occur, making the brain less susceptible to the triggers that typically initiate seizure activity.

• Store Normictal 800 MG Tablet 10 at room temperature below 30°C in a dry place.

• Keep the medicine protected from direct light and moisture.

• Store in the original packaging until ready to use.

• Keep out of reach of children and pets.

• Do not use Normictal 800 MG Tablet 10 after the expiry date printed on the package.

• Maintain a consistent sleep schedule as irregular sleep patterns can trigger seizures in some people with epilepsy.

• Limit or avoid alcohol consumption as it can interfere with how eslicarbazepine works and may increase your risk of seizures.
