Neosporin-H Ointment is used to treat minor skin wounds and bacterial infections resulting from cuts, burns, or insect bites. The ointment prevents the spread of infection and supports the body’s natural healing process when applied to the affected area. It can also be applied to the eye to treat bacterial infections in the eye. 

• Clean your skin thoroughly before applying the ointment.
• Apply a small amount of ointment to the affected area.
• Gently massage the ointment into your skin until it is completely absorbed.
• Do not cover the treated area with a dressing unless directed by your doctor.
• Before using Neosporin H ointment, perform a patch test to check for skin sensitivities or allergic reactions.
• If you experience irritation after using the ointment, stop using it immediately and consult your doctor.

• Neosporin H ointment is a topical medication applied to the skin and eyes. It should not be ingested orally or administered through any other route.

The medicinal activity of each of the components of Neosporin H ointment is as follows:

• Polymyxin B: Polymyxin B is an antibiotic that belongs to the class of polymyxins. It works by damaging the outer membrane of bacteria, leading to the leakage of cell contents and ultimately causing the death of the bacteria. It is effective against certain gram-negative bacteria.
• Neomycin: Neomycin is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside class. It acts by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria. It is effective against a wide range of gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria.
• Bacitracin: Bacitracin is a peptide antibiotic that inhibits the growth of susceptible bacteria. It interferes with the making of bacterial cell walls. It is primarily active against gram-positive bacteria.
• Hydrocortisone: Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It acts by reducing inflammation and suppressing the immune response. It helps relieve itching, redness, and swelling associated with skin conditions.

These active ingredients work together in Neosporin H ointment to provide a combination of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory actions.

• Store this medicine at a temperature below 30 ºC.
• Protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep Neosporin H ointment away from children.
• Use this medicine within one month after opening.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

• Apply a medicated moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated and prevent dryness, which can worsen dermatitis symptoms.
• Use mild soap and avoid harsh scrubbing, which can further irritate the skin.
• Identify and avoid potential triggers that may aggravate your skin problems, such as certain fabrics, harsh soaps, fragrances, or allergens.
• Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Omega-3 fatty acids in walnuts, fish, and flaxseed may help reduce inflammation associated with skin conditions.
• To prevent the spread of bacteria, avoid sharing towels, clothing, or personal care items with others.
• Bacterial eye infections, such as conjunctivitis, require proper diagnosis and treatment. Avoid self-treatment with over-the-counter eye drops or ointments.

• Do not use this medication for more than seven days without a doctor's advice.
• Do not use Neosporin H ointment before surgery.
• Inform your doctor if redness, irritation, swelling, or pain does not improve within the first few days of treatment.
