Neosporin-H Ointment is used to manage corticosteroid-responsive inflammatory skin conditions where bacterial infection is present or likely to occur. It contains hydrocortisone, a corticosteroid that relieves itching, redness, and scaling, along with three antibiotics (bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin B) that help prevent or treat bacterial infection in infected skin lesions and inflammatory skin conditions with associated bacterial infection. This makes it useful for inflamed skin that is associated with, or at risk of, bacterial infection.
Apply the ointment only to the affected areas as prescribed by your doctor. Avoid using it on large open wounds or over wide areas of the body for long periods, as this can increase absorption of the active ingredients. Consult your doctor before use, particularly if you have a history of antibiotic allergy (especially to aminoglycosides). If the skin does not improve within a week, or you notice signs of infection such as pus or increased warmth, contact your doctor.
