Monticope Tablet is used to manage the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and chronic hives (urticaria), including sneezing, a runny nose, nasal congestion, itchy and watery eyes and skin rashes. It controls both seasonal and year-round allergies.
It contains levocetirizine, an antihistamine that reduces allergy symptoms, and montelukast, which reduces airway and nasal inflammation.
Take the tablet as prescribed, usually in the evening. It may cause drowsiness, so avoid driving until you know how it affects you.
Tell your doctor about any kidney problems, a history of seizures or other sedating medicines before starting, and report any changes in mood or sleep, as montelukast can rarely cause these. Montelukast can cause serious mood or behaviour changes; for allergic rhinitis it is generally reserved for people who do not respond to or cannot tolerate alternative treatments.
