Minirin 0.2Mg Tablet is used to treat central diabetes insipidus, a condition where the body makes too little antidiuretic hormone, leading to extreme thirst and frequent urination. It is also used to manage primary nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting) in children. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing desmopressin, a synthetic form of the natural hormone vasopressin, and belongs to a class of medicines called antidiuretic hormone analogues.
This medicine works by acting on the kidneys to increase water reabsorption, which reduces the amount of urine produced and helps maintain normal fluid balance. Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor, and use the dose and duration your doctor prescribes.
Fluid intake needs to be restricted while using this medicine, especially when it is used for bedwetting, to prevent water retention and low blood sodium levels.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, high blood pressure, fluid retention, or an electrolyte imbalance. Seek medical attention if you have a severe headache, nausea, confusion, or a sudden change in weight, as these can be signs of low blood sodium.
