Minirin Melt 60mcg Tablet 30 is used to treat central diabetes insipidus, a condition where the kidneys produce large volumes of dilute urine. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing desmopressin, a synthetic form of the natural hormone vasopressin, and belongs to the class of antidiuretic hormone medicines.
This medicine works by increasing water reabsorption in the kidneys, which reduces the amount of urine produced. It is also used to manage bedwetting in children over 6 years of age and nocturia (night-time urination) in adults. This tablet is placed under the tongue, where it dissolves without the need for water, in the dose and frequency prescribed by your doctor.
Avoid drinking large amounts of water or other fluids while taking this medicine, as this can lead to a harmful build-up of water in the body.
Tell your doctor about any heart or kidney problems, and about any other medicines you are taking, before starting this medicine. Older patients should take this medicine under close medical supervision, as they are more likely to experience low sodium levels. Report any headache, nausea, or unusual swelling to your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
