Minirin Nasal Spray 2.5ml

Minirin Nasal Spray 2.5ml is used for:

• Antidiuretic replacement therapy in central cranial diabetes insipidus.
• Management of temporary polyuria and polydipsia after pituitary surgery or head trauma.
• Supporting fluid balance by reducing urinary output and increasing urine osmolality.
  
   

• Gently blow your nose before using the spray to clear nasal passages.
• Hold the spray upright and insert the nozzle into one nostril.
• Press the pump firmly once to release the prescribed dose, breathing in gently through the nose.
• Repeat in the other nostril if required, as instructed by your doctor.
• Wipe the nozzle clean after use and replace the cap securely.

Minirin Nasal Spray 2.5ml is for intranasal use only. 

Minirin Nasal Spray 2.5ml contains the following active component:

• Desmopressin (0.1 mg): Desmopressin is a synthetic analogue of the natural antidiuretic hormone vasopressin. It binds to V2 receptors in the kidney collecting ducts, increasing water reabsorption and reducing urine volume. It also stimulates the release of clotting factors such as von Willebrand factor (vWF) and factor VIII, supporting blood clotting in patients with certain bleeding disorders.

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat.
• Keep the bottle tightly capped when not in use.
• Do not freeze.
• Keep out of reach and sight of children.
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack.

• Restrict excessive fluid intake, especially in the evening, to prevent water intoxication.
• Maintain a balanced diet with sufficient sodium intake to avoid hyponatremia.
• Avoid alcohol, as it may worsen side effects.
• Patients with diabetes insipidus should follow dietary guidance as advised by their doctor to support overall fluid balance.
