Migraheal Tablet 10 is used to treat a migraine attack, including throbbing headache and the nausea and vomiting that often come with it. It is a combination medicine containing ergotamine (an antimigraine medicine), caffeine, paracetamol (a pain reliever) and prochlorperazine (an anti-sickness medicine).
This medicine is meant to treat an attack that has started and should be taken at the first sign of a migraine; it is not for preventing migraines or for daily use. Take it exactly as prescribed, and never take more than the maximum dose your doctor sets for one attack or one week, as too much ergotamine can be dangerous.
Keeping regular sleep and meal times, drinking enough water, limiting caffeine from other sources and resting in a dark, quiet room during an attack can help. Keeping a headache diary may help you identify triggers.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, poor circulation, or liver or kidney disease, and about all other medicines you take, especially certain antibiotics, antifungals and HIV medicines, which can cause dangerous reactions with ergotamine. Do not take other medicines containing paracetamol at the same time. Seek medical help straight away if you have chest pain, cold, numb or painful fingers or toes, or unusual movements. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
