Loparet Tablet is used to manage acute and chronic diarrhoea, including traveller’s diarrhoea. It helps reduce stool frequency, controls fluid loss, and is useful in diarrhoea associated with inflammatory bowel disease and in lowering output from ileostomies.

Follow these instructions while taking Loparet Tablet:

• Follow the dosage and timing instructions provided by your doctor precisely.

• Do not change or exceed the prescribed dose without consulting your doctor.

• Consult your doctor before discontinuing the medication; do not stop taking it without their guidance.

• Adhere to the dietary recommendations given by your doctor.

Loparet Tablet is taken orally.

Loparet Tablet contains loperamide (2 mg), which acts on your body in the following ways:

• Acts on Gut Wall Receptors: Loperamide interacts with mu-opioid receptors present in your gut wall. These receptors play a key role in controlling the movement of fluids through your intestines.

• Inhibits Release of Certain Chemicals: By acting on these receptors, loperamide inhibits the release of chemicals like acetylcholine and prostaglandins that contribute to increased fluid movement.

• Reduces Peristalsis: The result of this action is a reduction in peristalsis, the wave-like contractions that move food through your digestive tract.

• Increases Intestinal Transit Time: As a result of slowed peristalsis, loperamide increases the time food spends in your intestines, allowing more fluid absorption and resulting in firmer stools.

• Increases Anal Sphincter Tone: Loperamide also works by increasing the tone of your anal sphincter, further reducing the frequency of stools.

• Store Loparet Tablet at room temperature.

• Keep the medicine away from direct light, heat, and moisture.

• Always keep the tablets in their original packaging.

• Ensure that Loparet Tablet is kept out of reach of children.

• Use the medicine before the expiry date printed on the package.

• Stay hydrated: When managing diarrhoea with Loparet Tablet, it's crucial you drink plenty of fluids to replace what's lost through loose stools. Opt for water, fruit juices or rehydration solutions.

• Balanced diet: Consuming a balanced diet rich in fibre can help regulate your bowel movements. However, during acute diarrhoea episodes, you might want to stick to bland foods like rice, bananas and toast until your symptoms improve.
