CompositionGestofert Vaginal 8% Gel 1gm is a hormone medicine applied inside the vagina, used to support fertility treatment and early pregnancy, to protect the womb lining during hormone therapy, and to help restore periods that have stopped because of low progesterone. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing natural micronised progesterone, and belongs to a class of medicines called progestogens (female sex hormones).
This medicine works by supplying progesterone, which prepares and supports the womb lining, helping to regulate the menstrual cycle and support a pregnancy. When used in hormone therapy, it is taken together with oestrogen to protect the womb lining. Wash your hands first, insert the gel into the vagina with the applicator as directed, and continue for the period your doctor advises.
Avoid using other vaginal products within 6 hours before or after applying this gel, as they may affect how well it works.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor about your full medical history, including any blood clots, liver problems, breast conditions or unexplained vaginal bleeding, and about all other medicines you use. Seek urgent medical help for severe headache, calf pain or swelling, chest pain or breathlessness.
