Fluticatone AZ Nasal Spray is used to relieve symptoms of moderate to severe seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, a runny, blocked or itchy nose, and itchy, watery eyes. It is a combination medicine containing azelastine, an antihistamine, and fluticasone propionate, a corticosteroid (steroid).
Azelastine acts quickly to calm allergy symptoms, while fluticasone reduces swelling inside the nose over time. It is often used when a single nasal spray has not worked well enough. Shake the bottle gently and prime the pump before first use. Blow your nose, then spray into each nostril with your head tilted slightly forward, aiming away from the middle wall of the nose, as directed by your doctor.
Identifying and avoiding triggers such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander and tobacco smoke, keeping windows closed on high-pollen days and rinsing your nose with saline if your doctor advises can help control symptoms.
This spray is for use in the nose only and is usually used in adults and adolescents aged 12 and above. Before using it, tell your doctor if you have had recent nose surgery or injury, nose ulcers, tuberculosis or an untreated infection, glaucoma or cataracts, and about other medicines you use, especially other steroid medicines or HIV medicines. It can cause drowsiness, so take care when driving. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you have frequent nosebleeds, changes in vision, or worsening symptoms. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
