Fixime 200 Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media

• Controlling urinary tract infections

• Handling uncomplicated gonorrhoea caused by susceptible strains

Here's how you should take Fixime 200 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• You can crush the tablet if needed.

• This medicine can be taken with or without food.

• Do not stop taking this medicine before completing the course, even if your symptoms improve.

• Always follow your doctor's advice on how to take this medicine.

Fixime 200 Tablet is taken orally.

Fixime 200 Tablet contains cefixime (200 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Penetrating Bacterial Cell Wall: Cefixime penetrates the protective cell wall that surrounds bacteria.

• Inactivating Penicillin-Binding Proteins: These proteins are crucial for building the bacterial cell wall. Cefixime binds to them and makes them inactive.

• Inhibiting Cell Wall Synthesis: By targeting these proteins, cefixime prevents the formation of the bacterial cell wall.

• Leading to Bacterial Death: This disruption in their cell wall formation causes the bacteria cells to burst open and die. This helps in managing the infection.

The action of cefixime remains effective even against some bacteria that produce beta-lactamases, a type of enzyme that can make certain antibiotics ineffective. This gives Fixime 200 Tablet an edge over some other antibiotics.

• Store Fixime 200 Tablet in a cool, dry place at room temperature, ideally below 25°C.

• If you're taking Fixime 200 Tablet for urinary tract infections (UTIs), consume plenty of fluids and avoid caffeine, alcohol, and spicy foods which can irritate your bladder.

• For respiratory tract infections like bronchitis or pneumonia, refrain from smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke as it can aggravate your condition.
