CompositionEterna-MD Tablet is used to prevent and control nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy to the abdomen, and surgical procedures. It contains ondansetron, an important part of anti-nausea treatment in these settings.
Ondansetron works by blocking serotonin receptors in the gut and brain that trigger the vomiting reflex, which prevents and controls nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery.
This orally-dissolving tablet is placed on the tongue, where it dissolves without needing water, and is usually taken before chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery and continued for a short period afterwards exactly as your doctor prescribes.
Tell your doctor if you have a heart rhythm problem (such as a prolonged QT interval), or a family history of this, or if you are taking other medicines that affect heart rhythm, as ondansetron can rarely affect the heart's electrical activity. Report palpitations, fainting or severe constipation to your doctor.
