Erlot 100 MG Tablet 30 is used for the following:

• Treating non-small cell lung cancer

• Managing locally advanced lung cancer

• Controlling metastatic lung cancer

• Targeting cancer with specific genetic mutations

• Inhibiting cancer cell growth and multiplication

• Preventing further spread of cancer cells

• Complementing other cancer treatment protocols

• Addressing cancers resistant to other treatments

Follow these instructions while taking Erlot 100 MG Tablet 30:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Take this medicine on an empty stomach.

• Wait at least one hour before eating, or take it two hours after a meal.

• Do not crush, break, or chew the tablet.

• Take this medicine at the same time each day.

• Continue taking the medicine for as long as your doctor advises.

Erlot 100 MG Tablet 30 is taken orally.

Erlot 100 MG Tablet 30 contains erlotinib (100 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Inhibits EGFR: Erlotinib targets and blocks a protein called epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) found on the surface of cancer cells. This protein normally helps cells grow and divide when activated.

• Disrupts signalling pathways: By attaching to EGFR, erlotinib prevents chemical messengers from activating these receptors, effectively disrupting the signals that help cancer cells to grow and multiply.

• Programmed cell death: By inhibiting EGFR signalling, erlotinib can lead to reduced cancer cell proliferation and may induce apoptosis (programmed cell death).

• Targeted action: Unlike traditional chemotherapy, erlotinib specifically targets cancer cells while minimising damage to healthy cells, making it a more precise treatment option.

• Store Erlot 100 MG Tablet 30 in its original packaging at room temperature below 30°C.

• Keep the medicine in a cool, dry place away from moisture.

• Protect the tablets from direct sunlight.

• Always keep this medicine out of reach of children and pets.

• Do not use the medicine after its expiry date.

• Do not transfer tablets to other containers as the original packaging provides necessary protection.

• If you're receiving treatment for non-small cell lung cancer that affects the tissue cells rather than the mucus-producing cells, try to maintain adequate nutrition despite potential appetite loss by eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day.

• Consider limiting your exposure to direct sunlight and always apply high-protection sunscreen when outdoors, as erlotinib can increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity).
