Ancount 300 MCG Injection is used for the following:

• Prevention of infections during cancer chemotherapy

• Supporting recovery after bone marrow transplantation

• Managing severe chronic neutropenia

• Treating neutropenia in HIV-infected patients

• Mobilising stem cells for collection procedures

• Boosting white blood cell production

• Strengthening immune function during medical treatments

• Preventing recurrent infections in vulnerable patients

Follow these instructions when administering Ancount 300 MCG Injection:

• This medicine should only be administered by a qualified healthcare provider.

• Allow the injection to reach room temperature for 30 minutes before use.

• Do not shake the vial, as this may damage the contents of the medicine.

• Check that the solution is clear and colourless without particles.

• Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab before administering.

• Rotate injection sites daily to prevent tissue irritation.

Ancount 300 MCG Injection is administered subcutaneously or intravenously.

Ancount 300 MCG Injection contains filgrastim (300 mcg), which works on the body as follows:

• Mimics natural G-CSF: Filgrastim acts like a natural protein called granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) that your body normally produces to regulate white blood cell production.

• Stimulates neutrophil production: It binds to specific receptors on neutrophil precursor cells in your bone marrow, triggering these cells to multiply, mature, and develop into functional neutrophils (a type of white blood cell that fights infections).

• Enhances neutrophil release: The medicine helps mature neutrophils move from your bone marrow into your bloodstream, where they can travel throughout your body to fight infections.

• Improves neutrophil function: Beyond increasing the number of neutrophils, it also enhances their ability to identify and destroy harmful bacteria and other disease-causing organisms.

• Accelerates recovery: This medicine typically begins working within hours, with neutrophil counts usually increasing within 24 hours and reaching peak levels between 3 and 5 days after starting treatment.

• Store Ancount 300 MCG Injection in a refrigerator between 2 and 8°C.

• Keep the vial in its original packaging to protect it from light exposure.

• Never freeze the medicine, as this will damage it.

• Allow the vial to reach room temperature naturally for 30 minutes before use.

• Keep all medicines out of sight and reach of children.

• Check the expiry date, and do not use it after this date.

• Maintain good hygiene practices, especially handwashing, to reduce infection risk while your neutrophil (white blood cell) counts are low during treatment with Ancount 300 MCG Injection.

• Consider including foods rich in protein and vitamins in your diet to support your immune system while receiving treatment for neutropenia (low white blood cell count).
